Hello readers! Before we begin, I would like to say that I do not own any of these characters or you.
Hope you enjoy!
Little Secrets (Oliver Wood x reader)
Harry was strolling down the corridor with Ron and Hermione having a small argument over wand movements for a new Transfiguration spell. An arm was pressed into his stomach and he let out a little huff, Ron doing the same on his right. Hermione, who was stretching her arm all the way across the both of them, pressed a finger to her lips and pointed further down the corridor to what she had spotted.
There the three of them saw Oliver Wood, captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and resident sixth year bachelor, smirking with his arms crossed at someone they couldn’t see. They were at an angle that the person he was talking with was around the turn of the corner and maybe that was the point. Suddenly, a giggle emerged from the corner and a pair of delicate hands shot out, grabbed Wood by the collar of his robes and pulled him behind the corner.
The trio of second years looked at each other before creeping slowly to come up around the bend. When they peeked their heads around, they saw Wood kissing a girl. She had her hair pulled back in a sleek, high ponytail and her makeup was done to perfection. They would have left the two alone, except Ron noticed something about her immediately. She had on Slytherin robes.
Ron had fallen to the floor in a dead faint, shocked that one of his non-related role models was kissing the opponent and Harry and Hermione weren’t better off. Harry felt as if his jaw had dropped to the floor and Hermione’s face had gone pale, thought that could have been from the slightly sickening crack that Ron’s head made as it made contact with the stone floor.
The couple jumped apart at the noise and the girl blushed bright red. She cleared her throat and ran a hand through her silky tresses. Oliver didn’t look embarrassed, he looked rather mad actually.
“Potter! What are ye’ doing wondering ‘round here!”
“Uh, Wood. I uh, came to ask you about Quidditch practice.”
At the mention of Quidditch, the girl winced and Wood looked at her out of the corner of his eye.
“Uh, sorry Potter, but I’m kind of busy at the moment if you couldn’t tell.”
Wood gestured to the girl and she blushed more prettily this time, the pink dusting over her cheekbones and nose. Harry noticed a few freckles as well.
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine Potter. But we are trying to keep our relationship on the down low so if you could, oh, I don’t know, not tell anybody that would be great.”
Hermione suddenly spoke up, cutting off Harry before he could even being laying into Oliver about his traitorous behavior.
“How long have you been together?”
The two looked at each other with wide eyes, not expecting that question out of all of them. You were surprised, she was fairly mindful for a Gryffindor. The two decided to sit on the floor since they knew they wouldn’t get out of this one that easily. The three, with Ron now conscious but still fairly loopy, sat down on either side of them.
“Since last year, why do you ask?”
Hermione gave the girl a look that seemed to speak all and nothing at the same time.
“You two just seem really in love. How did you meet?”
The young couple shared a look. Their meeting wasn’t exactly the cutesiest but it was theirs.
*Flashback*
Second year Oliver Wood was grumpy as all hell. Professor McGonagall had said they would have partners for their research project but she would be picking them. The way it looked, Gryffindor’s were paired with Slytherins and that was the part Oliver was looking forward to the least.
“(Y/N) (l/n) and Oliver Wood.”
Percy Weasley, his table partner, pat him on the back as he stood to make his way to his partner. Soon a girl took his place. She still had some chubbiness from childhood, only being twelve years old and no chance to lose it yet. Oliver was quite the opposite, he was stick thin and quite tall. He hadn’t had the opportunity to gain muscle from the Quidditch team yet.
“Hi,” she whispered.
“Hullo,” he didn’t whisper back.
They got to work and had fun doing so. Both of them managed to crack a few jokes about the pictures in the books they had received and even talked about Oliver’s favorite past time, of course, Quidditch. (Y/N) didn’t have much of an opinion on it, she would much rather read.
“Are you sure you’re not supposed to be in Ravenclaw?”
The girl giggled and Wood found that he liked the sound and wanted the girl to giggle more.
“I’m sure. My family is a long line of Slytherin. I’m sure that if I didn’t get in, my parents would disown me or something.”
She said it all with a joking tone, though there was some truth to it. Slytherin purebloods tended to be harsh of their own kind. Whether that was a house trait or something unconsciously learned, Wood thought the idea of being disowned by your family very sad.
They soon finished the project, turned it in, and continued on talking through the rest of the class time. (Y/N)’s friends cast her occasional looks and Wood’s did the same with him. This was not the norm of either of them. Most of the partnerships didn’t even cross the invisible line across the desk, but the two were content to lean in to the others’ personal space, their noses nearly touching at some points.
After the first meeting, Wood realized he had a very serious crush on the Slytherin girl. So he would go out of his way to meet her and memorize her schedule. He tried to make it seem like he wasn’t doing these things on purpose but he was very bad at acting casual. Luckily (Y/N) didn’t seem to notice.
Over the next year, they would be best friends, inseparable. Then, in fourth year, Oliver would ask her out and of course she would say yes! That year was many an awkward date where they held hands and shared small kisses where nobody would see them. Despite what other may have seen, they were actually very good at keeping personal displays of affection to a minimum when they could possibly be spotted.
That lead them to this day, happily in love with each other. For her birthday, Oliver had given her a necklace with a snitch charm on it.
‘There. Now the two most important things in my life are together. I’ll never have to part from either of them.’
They haven’t told anybody, not even their families about their relationships. It might have been better this way.
*End of Flashback*
“Wow!” Hermione’s eyes were sparkling. “So you managed to keep it a secret until now?”
The two older classmen nodded, looking at each other with pink cheeks. Though it seemed to early, Oliver had already decided that he loved you but he didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to scare you away. Litter did he know that you felt the exact same about the situation.
“How do you keep up with the petty fights between the two houses?”
“Well,” (Y/N) began. “I never really participated in them before so nothing really changed. I just kept my mouth shut.”
“Meanwhile, I had sworn and sworn a hundred times that whatever I said about Slytherin was not how I felt in actuality. Luckily she still likes me enough to date me.”
The girl laughed and leaned on Oliver’s shoulder, their hands intertwining.
Hermione, recognizing the special moment, hopped up, grabbed her friends and left.
You looked up to Oliver and gave him a tired, closed eyed smile. He gave one back, kissing you on the nose before delivering a peck to your lips.
“Love, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
